25 Questions To Discover Yourself

I recently found an interesting list on Pinterest with 30 questions to discover yourself and I thought it would be a good idea to answer a few of them in a blog post. It might inspire you to do the same thing and you get to know me a little better, which is always fun! You can also use these questions as writing prompts for your journal if you want to, but I personally didn’t want to write a post about every single question in particular. That would be too much.

These questions are very personal and pretty deep, but I strongly believe that it is important to think about stuff like this. These questions are extremely useful if you want to learn more about your own personality, to see what you truly want in your life and to reflect on yourself for a second.

So grab a cup of tea! It’s time to answer some personal questions!

How do I feel at the moment?

I’ve been through some mood swings, lately, but I feel pretty good at the moment. Sometimes, I just have to get myself together and listen to my body for once. I always want to go forward, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as long as you don’t ignore your feelings and personal needs.

What do I need more in my life?

This is a pretty hard question, but I could use some more sleep in my life at the moment. I have a lot of pain in my back because of my pregnancy and it’s really hard to find a comfortable position to sleep in. I’ve already tried a lot of things, but it’s always something that keeps me awake. It’s pretty frustrating.

What would make me happy right now?

I would love some sunshine. It’s really grey and cloudy outside, which always makes me kind of sad for some reason.

What is going right in my life?

A lot of things, actually. I’m very happy and there is literally nothing to complain about right now. I have a boyfriend, I live in a nice apartment, there is a baby on the way and most importantly, I have everything that I need. There are a lot of things to be grateful for, which brings us to the next question!

What am I grateful for? List at least 10 things.

  1. I’m happy that my pregnancy is going really well.
  2. We recently bought a record player, one of our best purchases ever!
  3. Autumn is right behind the corner. I can’t wait to buy scented candles, wear cozy sweaters again and make DIY Fall crafts!
  4. I’m grateful for all the people who support me in my personal life.
  5. A good night’s rest is something to be grateful for. I mean, no one likes to be tired.
  6. My cozy apartment.
  7. I’m always grateful for all the gifts that I receive.
  8. Buying new stuff makes me happy, that’s no secret. I’m just really glad that I’m able to purchase new things every now and then.
  9. I’m not allowed to work for a while and I’m actually really grateful to have some time for myself.
  10. I’m grateful for all the lessons that I’ve learned so far. Improvement is really important for me, that’s why I always try to learn from my mistakes.

When did I experience joy this week?

Jeremy really enjoyed my hot apple cider that I made a few days ago and I also experienced a lot of joy when I was redecorating my home. I just love doing things that I really like, it always makes me so happy.

Share some small victories and successes.

  • My blog is growing very fast, which is amazing!
  • I finally learned how to bake delicious cookies.
  • I’m proud to have a degree.
  • I’ve learned to meditate, which reduces stress and helps me to stay focused during the day.
  • My cacti are still alive. It’s a miracle!

What’s bothering me and why?

The mood swings that I’ve been struggling with, the negative thoughts and the fact that I’m very tired now that I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy. It frustrates me because a simple task can be extremely exhausting. I try to be positive as much as possible, but I can’t block all the negativity out of my life. That’s not possible. The trick is to accept it and to learn how to deal with your emotions. I think that’s one of the most important things!

What are my priorities at the moment?

My pregnancy and my family are really important for me right now.

What do I love about myself?

I’m a bit of perfectionist. Many people see this as a bad quality, but I’ve learned to accept it and to use it in a productive way. I mean, I don’t give up easily, not until I’m satisfied. If I do something, I want to do it right. I’m also very organized, which is something that I really like about myself. I love structure in my life, it makes everything so much easier and it makes me happy.

Who means the world to me and why?

I don’t have many friends, which is totally fine! I’m just not that social and I like to be alone from time to time, as I’ve mentioned before in one of my previous blog posts. Jeremy and I have been together for almost six years now. That’s pretty impressive, I know. We get along so well. I mean, we can share everything with each other and that’s why he means the world to me. He supports me in everything and it feels really good to have someone who is always there for me.

If I could share one message with the world, what would it be?

Be unique, be yourself, take risks and most importantly, do the things you love and enjoy them with all your heart.

What advice would I give to my younger self?

Oh, boy. I can be chaotic from time to time, but my younger self was a total mess. If I could give her one advice; stop worrying so much! Gosh, you are literally wasting your time! Everything will be fine, as long as you believe in yourself.

What lesson did I learn this week?

It’s okay to face your negative emotions now and then. Life is not always easy and you can’t force yourself to be happy all the time. Sometimes, you just need a pillow, tissues and a shoulder to cry on. (Or ice cream, a lot of ice cream…)

If I had all the time in the world, what do I want to do first?

Travel the world and discover new places.

What does my ideal morning look like?

I recently wrote a blog post about my current morning routine, one that really works for me. It allows me to start my day fresh and energized and that’s exactly what I need. I get up, take a few deep breaths, enjoy a hot shower, take care of my skin, prepare breakfast and finish my chores as a responsible, young lady…

What does my ideal day look like?

That’s a good question. Let me think about this for a second. I love to keep myself busy during the day and I like to be productive, without being tired, while I’m listening to the radio and having a chat with someone I love. And how amazing would it be to end the day with a nice dinner? That would be perfect!

Where does my pain originate? What would need to happen for me to heal?

I don’t really want to talk about this because I’m really sensitive and thinking about it would make me very emotional. That’s just not what I want. I’ve worked hard to change my mindset and to be a happier person. I think it’s important to give myself time to process my personal struggles and to face them, eventually, it will make me stronger.

What is always something that I wanted to do?

I can’t think of anything in particular right now. I mean, there are still so many things that I want to do in my life. I want to buy a house, get my license, feed a giraffe, visit a lot of new places, learn new things and the list goes on and on! Check out my bucket list if you’re interested! It might give you a bit of inspiration as well.

What is something that I would love to learn?

Definitely sign language! And I also would love to improve my photography skills…

What hobbies would I like to try?

I’ve always wanted to try archery.

Where would I like to travel in the next 5 years?

Japan has always been on my bucket list and we also want to visit Malta. We’ll see! I mean, you can visit a lot of places in five years.

What can I do to take better care of myself?

I need to listen to my body and recognize my boundaries more often, that’s why I love meditating from time to time. I recently bought a book about mindfulness and meditation, which already helped me out a lot in multiple situations. Meditation allows me to connect with myself and it feels really good.

When have I done something that I thought I couldn’t do?

I’m very bad at sewing. I don’t have the patience and I just suck at it. There was a little hole in one of my favorite clothing items, so I asked Jeremy to fix it, but he always forgot about it. I was afraid it would tear even more and I finally sewed it myself, which made me really proud!

Where would I want to live in my ideal life?

It doesn’t really matter where I live, as long as I’m happy, but it would be amazing to have a house in the countryside, surrounded by nature and a lot of animals. I would grow my own vegetables, run a farm and enjoy my life as much as possible. Grow old with the ones I love, yeah, that would be a dream come true.

I found it very interesting to answer these questions because you really need to think them through before you give your final answer, which is something that I really like for some reason. I don’t know, it’s inspiring and it allows me to open my eyes. Did I learn something from them? Actually, yes. They created some kind of overview and they made me realize a few important things; it’s not that difficult to create your own happiness, as long as you enjoy the little things in life. Surround yourself with positivity and always stay true to yourself. No matter what!

  1. I love this post! Some great and opening questions here, this post has definitely opened a lot more than a normal tag or selection of questions would do. Thank-you for sharing your true answers here, some things I'm sure we're hard to write. What makes me happy are the people around me, from my family to my fiancee and work colleagues. We always have a laugh no matter what else is going on.
